Cerebral Palsy is a disorder where the blood supply to the child’s brain is interrupted before / during / after the child is born leaving the child damaged in certain areas of the brain. The extent of brain blood supply disruption directly relates the the severity of the Cerebral Palsy. This can be of different types. Mostly areas of brain that deal with control of voluntary muscles are lost leading to very tight muscles, abnormal tightness or posturing, drooling, speech abnormalities, hearing abnormalities, difficulty with the use of hands, difficulty in communication / ambulation.
The damage to the brain is irreversible and effects on the muscles are permanent. The deformities and tightness will be dynamic and child will need care and attention till maturity.
